Slokar
studied with Erich Penzel in Maastricht and graduated in 2008. In 2002 she won the first prize at the Anemos Competition in Rome and in 2003 at the Ceccarossi Competition in Orsogna, Italy. She is a laureate of the Orpheum Foundation Zurich, the Schenk Foundation Zofingen and other funding institutions.
As a soloist she has worked with a wide range of orchestras, including the Tchaikovsky Radio Orchestra Moscow, the Radio Orchestra Ljubljana, the Geneva Chamber Orchestra, the Orchestra di Camera di Milano, the Südwestdeutsche Philharmonie Konstanz and many others. Conductors she has worked with include Gerd Albrecht, Vladimir Fedoseyev, Alain Lombard and others.
A passionate chamber musician, she is a regular guest at a variety of festivals, including Verbier Festival, Oleg Kagan Music Festival, Oxford Chamber Music Festival, Martha Argerich Festival, Beethovenfest Bonn and others. Her musical partners include Gidon Kremer, Martha Argerich, Heinz Holliger, Maximilian Hornung and many more. As principal horn she played in the Gustav Mahler Jugendorchester, the Tonhalle Zurich, the Deutsches Symphonie Orchester Berlin. At the moment she is principal horn in the Orchestra della Svizzera in Lugano. Zora Slokar regularly gives master classes in North America, Japan and Europe.
